AYA Teacher

Ben is a co-founder and director of Auckland’s Theatre Stampede.

He trained in drama and playwriting at The University of Otago, did a post-graduate diploma in drama at The University of Auckland, and continued his professional training at The John Bolton Theatre School in Melbourne. Currently Ben works in Auckland as a director, teacher and actor.

His work is hallmarked by a lightness, exuberance and joy in performance, and his productions are well known for their dynamic theatricality and  visual flair.   Work includes: 360, Head, Badjelly the Witch, The Young Baron, Blossom, A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. 

As an actor he has worked regularly for television and film with credits that include: Legend of the Seeker, Amazing Extraordinary Friends, Shortland Street, Being Eve, Secret Agent Man, Harry and Peter in Love and Hercules – and has featured in numerous TV commercials.
 As a teacher he has been engaged by South Seas School of Film and Television, The University of Auckland, Unitec, Auckland Theatre Company and The National Youth Drama School.

Ben’s recent collaboration with Nightsong Productions 360 – has recently enjoyed an acclaimed season in The New Zealand International Arts Festival and was re-staged in Auckland for the 2011 Festival.
