Who We Are
At AYA we are committed to fostering the talent of artistic young people in a stimulating, challenging, supportive environment.
Aspiring Young Actors (AYA) was established in 1994 as an independent Drama School to provide training and professional opportunities for talented child actors. Today it is one of the foremost drama schools for young people in Auckland.
Our students, aged between 10 and 20 years, are accepted from annual auditions held at the beginning of each year. We look for motivated young actors who have had experience in either dance or drama and show confidence, ability and a passion to act.
What We Do
Our students are prepared in all aspects of performance including voice, movement, improvisation, stagecraft, script analysis, and characterisation.
We provide the opportunity and encouragement for committed students to develop their creativity, uniqueness and personal strength.
Over 90% of AYA students have agent representation giving them openings for professional acting work.
Classes are grouped by students' age and maturity. Numbers are limited to ensure individual attention, and to enable student's work progress and artistic development to be observed.
How to Get Involved
Acceptance is by audition only for students from 10 years to young adults.
We invite applications from students who:
- Have attended at least 2 years drama and/or dance classes.
- Have stage and/or screen experience.
- Will have reached 10 years of age by 1 February 2014.
